Ahead of this year’s Virtual Grand National, aired on ITV1 at 5pm this Saturday, we are proud to declare that we will be donating all profits to the NHS.

Cornelius Lysaght has written a sensational preview of the race, which you can read here. Sharky, our Head of Racing also outlines his top five tips for the big race!

Definitly Red 14/1 – He has been trained for the race all season, with good experience over the fences when coming 4th in Becher chase in December. Off a very good weight in 10-10 and has champion jockey elect Brian Hughes in the saddle. He is a very good jumper and ran a lovely prep race last time at Kelso. All looks set for a massive run.

Anibale Fly 20/1 – 4th in the race last year when staying on really well at the end. He a 10-year-old now which is the perfect age and is running off a 2 pound lower mark than last year. Previous winning Grand National jockey Barry Geraghty is in the saddle. The drying ground will be a massive help as well. All looks set for a huge run.

Beware The Bear 33/1– His trainer Nicky Henderson has an awful record in the race. However, this horse may change that! He is a very strong stayer, a previous Cheltenham Festival winner and will love the drying ground. His only worry is he has no experience over the fences but if he takes to it, he will definitely outrun his odds.

Pleasant Company 28/1 –  Certain to run a massive race. He came 2nd two years ago, fell last year when he still going very well (was not his fault, just buckled on landing) and he loves the fences. This would have been the plan all year. He is a 12-year-old now but age is no barrier to Grand National success as we have seen. Also, he represents the all-conquering Willie Mullins. For me, he is a place cert.

Ramses De Teillee 66/1 – The out the ballpark selection of the 5 and the one for the housewives! This horse will certainly outrun his odds. He was running a massive race last year in the race until the jockey’s rein snapped! He has great form over the fences and has been in the form of his life this year. Forget his last run – it was only a prep race over hurdles. This would have been the plan all year and his trainer David Pipe certainly knows what is required to win a Grand National. Won it in 2008.
